How about enjoying the Christmas break in a completely different city? Many of us live near a city here in the United Kingdom. It could be Liverpool, Edinburgh, Manchester, Bristol, or perhaps the capital city of London. Swapping the comfort of where you live for a complete culture change in another city can be an amazing way to spend the festive season. Book yourself a lovely hotel, find somewhere to enjoy your Christmas Day meal, and then enjoy the surrounding days exploring and adventuring.

As well as shops, tourist spots, and places you might have seen on Instagram, make your way off the obvious routes and discover hidden gems. Talk to locals, immerse yourself in this different culture, and of course, enjoy a nice glass of wine in the hotel bar at the end of the day.
